Teen Read Week 2013

Teen Read Week is one of the most anticipated events in Xavier School. The school will be celebrating Teen Read Week on October 14 -18, 2013 with the theme “Braving New Worlds”. This annual event will feature the 3 day book fair, the most awaited Dress Me Literary parade on October 21, and other activities that promote reading and literacy.

The Teen Read Week’s theme “Seek the Unknown @ your library”, urges the teens to discover the not–so-familiar books, resources and services at their own libraries. Just like the Teen Read Week’s theme, Xavier School’s theme “ Braving New Worlds” will challenge the students to read books beyond their choice and discover what else is new in the library.

Teen Read Week™ is a national adolescent literacy initiative created by the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA). It began in 1998 and is held annually during the third week of October. Its purpose is to encourage teens to be regular readers and library users.

Teen Read Week’s sub-theme for this year is Seek the Unknown @ your library, which encourages teens to explore and learn about the unknown through mystery, adventure, sci-fi, and fantasy books.
